It can naturally be found in meat, fish, dairy products and fortified cereals, however many different lifestyle factors and age can contribute to B12 deficiency, despite eating a healthy balanced diet.

What can contribute to a B12 deficiency?

It is very common for vegetarians and vegans to suffer from B12 deficiency, also it is common in people who regularly take antacids, smoke, consume over the recommended units of alcohol, or people over the age of 60.

What are the symptoms of B12 deficiency?

- A lack of energy

- Extreme fatigue or tiredness

What happens at my appointment?

This is a quick procedure.  Just like any other injection , the B12 is injected into the top of the arm with a very fine, small needle.  You may feel a slight dull ache in your arm for an hour or so after the procedure, but this will subside

Recommended frequency of injections?

As an initial booster, one injection per week is recommended for a month, then followed by one monthly injection.

How long before I feel the effects of the B12 injection ?

The effects of the injection are usually felt within 48 to 72 hours.  Many people report a feeling of difference after just 24 hours, but those with a higher deficiency may take longer.
